The
following Sports Council grants for the 2007/2008 financial year have been allocated to
Shooting:
| Travel |
Coaching |
| £3,450 |
£1,760 |
The Governing Body of
each sport is responsible to Sports Council for the distribution and
administration of the total sums granted to their sport and it is expected that the grants awarded
will be used towards the long term
development of the sport.
The following
conditions are set down by Sports Council.
| Travel |
|
Competitors
(individuals or teams) representing the Island will be eligible
to apply for assistance towards travel costs only of up to 80%
(which should not include accommodation).
These competitors should have been selected via appropriate
procedures, such as official trials and recent up-to-date
performances to ensure fair and accurate selection to represent
the Island. Sports Council may request details of the
selection process.
Individuals or
teams not representing the Island (eg club teams) will be
eligible to apply for assistance towards travel costs only of up to
30% (Juniors 50%), which should not include accommodation
The GBS should
not use the travel grant towards travel to the Island Games and
Commonwealth Games as special funding is allocated by Council
towards these events.

Sports Aid Funding
Sports Council is concerned
that individuals receiving assistance from Sports Aid Foundation (SAF)
are being penalised as they are unable to receive the normal travel
grant funding. Therefore, it has been decided that individuals
will be eligible to claim travel funding from their governing body in
addition to SAF assistance. Obviously this is still at the
discretion of the GBS as to which individuals and which competitions
are funded. If GBS feel that this new ruling will have a
significant detrimental effect on the amount they have available for
funding non-Sports Aid competitors, it will be possible for GBS to make
a case to Council for additional finance.
Applying for
Additional Funding
Sports council is hoping to allocate additional monies to the Travel
& Coaching Fund in 2006/07. The following guidelines are
provided to indicate what Sports Council will be looking for should
sports request additional funding:
|
General |
|
 |
The sport has a
current Development Plan and Annual Action Plan |
|
 |
The previous year's
grants have been spent in line with the Plans |
|
Travel |
|
 |
Are the allocations
decided on quality rather than quantity? |
|
 |
Is the balance of
events on and off Island correct? |
|
 |
Are the events at
the correct level? |
|
 |
Is the funding
allocated in the most constructive way; eg not just the same
amount for each club or individual? |
|
Coaching |
|
 |
Is there a
continuous rolling programme for coaches to qualify? |
|
 |
Is the current
coaching programme improving standards within the sport? |
|
 |
Is the sport working
towards having a coach qualified to the level that they are able
to qualify other coaches on the Island? |
|
