Michael Duncalf Top of British Junior Men in Germany
  Laxey rifleman Michael Duncalf provided the top performance of the British Junior Men's Rifle Team in this month’s annual Junior Internationals at Suhl in Germany.
  This was Michael’s first appearance abroad with the British Junior Squad and, full of confidence, he recorded an excellent 581 ex 600 in the 50 metre Prone, to finish 20^th from a field of 43 of the best young rifle shooters in Europe.  The event was won by Damian Kontny of Germany with 590.
  Michael is without a doubt the most talented young rifle prospect to come through the ranks on the Island for many a year.  He has been producing score levels never before achieved by juniors in Island competitions over the last two years and his arrival with the British junior squad has been fully deserved.
  It is a nerve-wracking time for any young sportsman competing in their first major event in a foreign country with a field of Europe’s best all around.  Michael handled that with great skill and confidence and his steady performance of 96, 97, 98, 95, 98, 97 for the 581 certainly registered him as a name to watch for the future.
  The other two members of the British Junior Men's squad, Richard Phillips and Philip Wakefield,  finished 28^th and 43^rd respectively.

Harry Creevy Equals Sinclair Range Record
  Shooting in Round 2 of the IOMRA's Jamaica Trophy competition today Harry hit a 598 prone score, equalling the Range record which now has a three-way split.  David Phelps, shooting for Wales in the 2000 CSF(ED) Championships on the Island, was first with a 598, to be followed earlier this year by Martin Sinclair in the Isle of Man Easter Open.  Because of the standards attaching to those shoots, both scores counted as equal British International records.

British Record at the Easter Open Confirmed
  The NSRA has today confirmed Martin Sinclair's shoot in the National Squad selection trial on Easter Saturday as an Equal British International record.  The Scotsman hit 598 to top the trial list and go on to win the major awards of the meeting.
  He expressed surprise coming off the firing point that he had shot so well since he was just getting over a bout of conjunctivitis!
  Martin joins David Phelps, who also shot his 598 at the Isle of Man's Sinclair Range, and Alistair Cornish as joint holder of the International record which has to be shot fully under ISSF conditions.

CSF Championships in New Delhi Cancelled - again!
  Following a request from the NRA of India, the CSF Executive has now confirmed cancellation - once again - of the New Delhi championships.  Following the initial cancellation last year of the event originally scheduled for December, the Indian organisers had hoped they could revitalise interest and re-schedule it for March 2004.  However, it has not proved possible.
  So far as the European Division of the CSF is concerned, this now puts more focus on the 2004 regional championships to be held in the Isle of Man from 17th to 19th September.

CSF Championships in New Delhi Cancelled
  Word has just been received that the CSF Championships planned for the first week of December have been cancelled.  Discussion is taking place on a proposal to re-schedule them for a period in March 2004 though, with next year being an Olympic year, the international shooting calendar is already pretty busy over the first half of the year.  A low general entry is being blamed.
  The cancellation will come as a disappointment to the Isle of Man's seven strong rifle team gearing up to travel.  The team as selected is - 50m Prone Rifle Men: Harry Creevy, Phil Glover and Dave Moore - 50m Prone Rifle Women: Suzanne Cubbon, Linda Watson and Lesley Cowin - 50m 3 x 40: Barry Jones.

50th place finish for Harry in Europeans
  Almost but not quite, seems to be the pattern of Harry's tour of duty for Great Britain on the international shooting circuit this season.  Another difficult time in the eliminators - this time of the European Championships in Plzen in the Czech Republic - saw the Manx shooter just manage to accumulate enough points with 586 to make the cut for the qualification round - the competition-proper - which took place yesterday (Saturday).
  Sixtysix of Europe's top riflemen came through Friday's eliminators, including the three-strong British contingent.  The pace was hot, with an equal-world record of 600 ex 600 being shot by the Austrian, Waibel in one of the relays.  On to Saturday... and the qualifiers saw Harry shoot a steady competition apart from the third string, which was where the point were lost.  He went 98, 99, 96, 99, 99, 100, for a 591 finish, and 50th place.
  Top British performer was Mike Babb with 595 and 14th place; another good performance from the Warrington shooter, though two points off the tally needed to make the cut for the Final.  Martin Sinclair, winner of this year's Isle of Man Easter Open, was 31st on 593.
  The Championship was won by Russian, Artem Khadjibekov, with 598 and a strong 105.2 final, making 703.2 overall.  Ayvazyan of the Ukraine was second, with Sweden's Jonas Edman third.

Selection for Creevy for European Championships
  Harry Creevy has just had word that he's been selected for the three man GBR 50m Prone team for the European Championships taking place next month at Plzen in the Czech Republic.  The team comprises Harry, Mike Babb and Martin Sinclair.
  The 50m Prone Eliminators are scheduled for Friday 18 July, with the Qualification Round of the competition-proper the following day, Saturday 19 July.

Zagreb - Good news from Mike Babb, but Harry Creevy doesn't make the qualification.
  A fine 597 and 101.7 final from Mike Babb gave the British number one 5th place in the Zagreb World Cup on Friday.  It is Mike's second successive world cup final, and one place better than his 6th in the US last month.  Harry, on the other hand, had to make do with a 589 in the eliminators, just off the pace to make the cut for the qualification round.  The event was won by Thomas Jerabek of the Czech Republic.
  The British pair now head for Munich and the second of the back-to-back European world cups.

Further World Cup Selection for Creevy at Zagreb and Munich
  The NSRA has announced the GB squads for the forthcoming ISSF World Cups in Europe which see Harry Creevy and Mike Babb as the main Prone pair.  The events in Zagreb, Croatia run from 2nd to 9th June, with Munich following from 9th to 16th June.
  Harry and Mike are joined in the Prone Men line-up at Zagreb by Jon Hammond and Donald McIntosh, both shooting for MQS.  At Munich, Martin Sinclair joins them together with Jim Cole-Hamilton and Donald McIntosh shooting for MQS.

CSF Championships, New Delhi trials get under way
  Harry Creevy staked his claim to a place in the Manx team right from the start tonight at Sinclair with a resounding 597, chalking up a straight 17 points in the selection process.  Phil Glover was the only other man earning selection points on Day One with 7 from his 587.  The only Woman to register points was Suzanne Cubbon, gaining 4 from her 580.  Results>>

29th Place Finish for Harry Creevy in the US
  The result of the 50 metre prone event at the World Cup in Fort Benning, Georgia is just in.  Harry made it through to the Qualification round and scored 591 to finish in 29th place.  His GB partner, Mike Babb, scored  596.  This took Mike into the Final in 7th spot, where he eventually made up one position to finish 6th.  The event was won by Eric Uptagrafft of the USA.

World Cup Selection for Harry Creevy
  Club member Harry Creevy has been selected to represent Great Britain in the World Cup at Fort Benning, Georgia at the beginning of May.  Harry will be partnering Mike Babb in the 50m Prone event, the Elimination rounds of which take place on Tuesday 6th May, followed by the Qualification round and Final on Wednesday 7th May.

Recommended standards for Air Rifle were set at: Men 570 x 600 and Women 375 x 400.

Commonwealth Shooting Federation Championships, New Delhi, 3/10 November 2003
  The Rifle Association has announced team selection details for the CSF Championships.  Trials will be based on the Jamaica Trophy series, starting on Monday 12th May.  The cut-off date for registering as a trialist is 1 May.  Names should go to IOMRA Secretary, Barry Jones.

CSF(ED) Trials
  Trials get under way on Sunday 2nd February for the 50 metre Prone team for the CSF(ED) Championships in Jersey between 2nd and 4th May.  Six trial shoots in all are to be held.  The dates are 2nd, 9th, 16th and 23rd Feb together with 2nd and 9th March.  Shooting starts at 9.30am prompt.
